CBT and Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is talk therapy that explores emotions, relationships, and life challenges. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that may help you recognize and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. Our holistic approach considers your emotional wellbeing and daily life.

Talk Therapy and CBT
Sessions give you space to talk through what has been weighing on you and to practice skills you can use day to day.
People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons: stress at work, a relationship that’s struggling, anxiety that keeps you up at night, a loss, or a sense that things have been off for a while. You don’t need a crisis or a diagnosis to start.
CBT is practical. You’ll look at the thoughts and habits that keep you stuck, try new approaches between sessions and notice what changes. Talk therapy more broadly gives you room to understand patterns in your emotions and relationships.
Our team includes Stacy Felix, APRN, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner whose background spans mental health, psychotherapy and recovery support. Because we look at overall health too, sleep and physical health can be part of the conversation when they’re affecting your mood.
The first session is mostly about getting to know you: what brought you in, what you’d like to be different and what has or hasn’t helped before. There’s no pressure to share everything at once. You set the pace.

What Therapy May Help With
Change in therapy is usually gradual. Most people notice small shifts first, like catching an unhelpful thought sooner or handling a hard conversation a little differently.
- Managing difficult emotions and unhelpful thought patterns.
- Building practical coping and communication skills.
- Feeling more supported through stress and life changes.
How often you meet depends on what you’re working on and what fits your schedule. Some people come weekly for a stretch, others less often. We’ll talk about goals early on so you know what you’re working toward, and check in on progress along the way.
Please use the patient portal rather than email for anything personal or medical. If you’re in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988, or go to the nearest emergency room.
Therapy can sit alongside other care here. If sleep, pain or a physical condition is part of what you’re dealing with, the rest of the team can help with those pieces too, with your agreement. Between sessions you may try a small exercise or keep brief notes, which is how the skills start to carry into everyday life.
