Testing
Labs, Made Clearer.
Numbers on a report don’t mean much without context. We go through your results in plain language and connect them with your symptoms, medications and goals.
Plenty of people arrive with a folder of past results and very little explanation. A value marked normal can still be worth a second look next to how you feel, and a flagged one isn’t always cause for alarm. We take the time to explain which results matter for you and why.
If you already have recent results, bring them to your first visit along with your medication and supplement list. If new testing would help, we’ll talk about which labs make sense and what each one can and can’t tell us.
Testing is useful later on, too. Repeating the right labs at the right time is how we check whether a plan is actually working.
Results from other clinics are welcome, and there’s no need to repeat a recent test without a good reason. We’ll also note which results are worth tracking over time, so you’re not starting from scratch at every visit.
Potential benefits
What Testing Can Show
Labs are one piece of the picture. They’re most useful when they’re read alongside your history and symptoms, not on their own.
A single result is a snapshot. Trends over months often tell you more.
- Understanding your results in the context of your health.
- Identifying clinically relevant nutrient or hormone concerns.
- Guiding next steps and tracking meaningful changes over time.
One practical note: some supplements can interfere with lab tests. Biotin is a common example, so tell us everything you’re taking before blood is drawn.
Once results are in, we’ll go through them with you and agree on next steps. Sometimes that means a change to your plan, sometimes a referral back to another doctor, and sometimes it simply means peace of mind.
Some tests need a little preparation, such as fasting or timing the draw around a medication dose. We’ll tell you exactly what’s needed when we order them, so you don’t end up repeating a test because of a missed instruction. Ask about anything that’s unclear. No question about your own results is too small.
We’ll also tell you when a result needs follow-up with another doctor.
